Oman: Over 20 Expats Held for Violating Labour Law in Muscat Governorate

More than 20 expatriates were arrested for violating the provisions of the Labour Law in the Wilayat of Seeb, Muscat Governorate, Ministry of Labour (MoL), said.

In a statement, the Ministry said: “In order to follow up on the expat workforce and the extent of their commitment to the provisions of the Labour Law and the regulations issued in implementation thereof and to combat the indiscriminate selling practiced by the expat workforce in the Wilayat of Seeb, the Ministry of Labour, represented by the joint inspection team, with the support of the Muscat Municipality and the Royal Oman Police, conducted an inspection campaign that resulted in the arrest of 22 workers for violating the provisions of the Labour Law. Legal measures are being taken against them.”

The Royal Oman Police (ROP) has arrested three expats for stealing air conditioning equipment from a house in the Wilayat of Sinaw, North Al Sharqiyah Governorate.

The ROP said: “The North Al Sharqiyah Governorate Police Command arrested a person of Asian nationality for stealing air conditioning equipment from a house in the Wilayat of Sinaw, and arrested two other people who disposed of the stolen items. The legal procedures have been completed against them.”
