India faces severe shortage of hospital beds, oxygen supplies, drugs
India’s Health Ministry has reported 261,500 new Covid-19 cases on Sunday— beating yesterday’s record for the highest single-day spike yet and pushing the country’s overall tally to nearly 14.8 million.
India, being hit by the spread of more contagious variants of the disease, is facing severe shortage of hospital beds, oxygen supplies and critical medicines such as the anti-viral drug Remdesivir
Covid-19 related deaths rose by 1,501 to reach a total of 177,150, the data showed.
No information was provided on the ages of those who died or if they suffered any pre-existing conditions.
