Bahrain: COVID-19 Spurs Demand for Personal Care Items

Consumers in Bahrain continue to shift their purchasing behaviour towards personal care, hygiene and beauty products that promote health following the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak.

As consumers use online shopping to avoid going out, grocery stores have witnessed a sudden spurt in demand.

Just recently, guidelines have been issued by health authorities to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Barber shops and beauty salons in Bahrain were closed, as part of national efforts to combat the spread of the virus.

As barber shops and salons stay closed in Bahrain, personal care items like hair trimmers, clippers, shavers etc. have been popular purchases amongst consumers. Many residents have resorted to “Do-It-Yourself (DIY)” hair cuts or entrusted the job to their family members staying at home.

“I bought a new hair trimmer and did it myself, but it didn’t look so good so I asked my brother to fix it”, a source told Gulf Insider.

While commercial stores resume their services tomorrow, there will still be a high demand for online purchases.
