Dubai: Waterparks allowed to reopen with limited capacity
Dubai’s waterparks have been permitted to reopen, provided that they adhere to a strict set of safety guidelines including operating at a maximum of 50 percent.
According to a circular distributed by the Dubai Municipality, all attractions, including rides and slides can reopen. Showers and locker rooms are also permitted to reopen.
However, kids soft play areas, ball pits, rock climbing walls, inflatable zones, trampolines will have to remain closed.
Parks are also not permitted to reopen arcade and gaming zones and resume one-on-one meet and greets, events and live entertainment as well as parades.
Staff will be required to undergo regular temperature checks and wear masks and gloves.
Parks will also need to undergo complete sterilisation prior to reopening and all water systems will need to be checked to ensure they are safe after the prolonged shutdown.
An appointed hygiene manager will need to be on-site upon reopening, with mandatory full sterilisation of the facility each week.
Visitors will not be permitted to enter if they have a body temperature of 37.5 degrees Celsius or higher. Those with underlying medical conditions, respiratory illnesses and chronic diseases are also not allowed.
Those who have bought their ticket online or who have annual passes will be given priority entry to reduce the level of contact.
Social distancing has to be followed – whether in queues, on sun loungers, or in the pool.
Parents and carers must ensure their children follow the guidelines.
While up to 10 people are permitted to be together, people must maintain at least a two-meter distance from anyone not in their group.
The circular also stressed that visitors who refuse to comply with the regulations should not be allowed in the premises after repeated warnings.
Waterparks will also need to set up an isolation room to handle suspected Covid-19 cases.
