Bahraini woman acquitted in defamation case

Bahrain acquitted a woman charged with defamation and reversed a BD50 fine slapped in a case filed by her cousin for lack of evidence. Case files say the Bahraini woman posted defamatory remarks against her cousin on social media platforms.

The case and the conviction were based on the plaintiff’s (the woman’s cousin’s) statements and unclear images provided by her that included the woman’s name. As a result, the provided pieces of evidence weren’t sufficient to hold her guilty.
