Saudi: 2 expat women arrested for practising illegal abortion

Two expatriate women, who were involved in practising illegal abortion, have been arrested in Riyadh.

The arrests were made in cooperation with the security authorities, it was announced by the Riyadh Health Department.

It was found that the two expatriate women were practising abortions illegally at a rented residential apartment located in south Riyadh. The abortions were carried out in an environment devoid of minimum health requirements, the Health Department sources pointed out.

The officials of the Department of Assistance for Compliance at the Riyadh Health Department, in cooperation with the security authorities, carried out the raid on the apartment and arrested the women after monitoring their illegal practice that threatened the safety of patients.

The action against the illegal activity was undertaken with the follow-up of the Director General of Health Affairs in Riyadh Dr. Hassan Al-Shahrani.
