Bahrain: Tamkeen Kicks Off “Global Entrepreneurship Week”
The Labour Fund “Tamkeen” kicked off the annual Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW), an initiative of the Global Entrepreneurship Network “GEN,” which will take place from November 14th to 21st to promote entrepreneurship in Bahrain.
This year, the lineup features over 30 events focusing on promising key economic sectors. Events include specialised workshops, panel discussions, and a wide range of dialogues with experts and specialists representing various sectors, as well as exclusive fashion shows organised by a group of Bahraini creatives in cooperation with partners and supporters of the entrepreneurship ecosystem.
The GEW initiative brings together entrepreneurs, investors, decision-makers, and other stakeholders to exchange experiences and contribute to enriching the entrepreneurial culture and achieving the success and sustainability of business projects that support economic development.
Mr. Esam Hammad, the Executive Director of Marketing and Customer Experience at the Labour Fund “Tamkeen” and the Managing Director of GEN Bahrain, stressed the importance of organising the Global Entrepreneurship Week events. He commented: “Tamkeen is committed to organising Global Entrepreneurship Week activities annually to elevate the role of all stakeholders in the Kingdom’s distinctive entrepreneurship ecosystem. Through GEW, we aim to showcase their efforts that directly contribute to empowering Bahraini youth with entrepreneurial and innovative ideas, encouraging them to launch pioneering projects and create quality job opportunities, contributing to the prosperity of the national economy and reinforcing the Kingdom’s position as a promising regional hub.”
Over the past year, Tamkeen has supported more than 4000 private sector enterprises through various programmes and initiatives. Startups accounted for 57% of the number of enterprises supported last year, while SMEs accounted for about 48%.
