Saudi: Jeddah Municipality Seizes 6 Tons of Fruit and Vegetables From Illegal Vendors

The Jeddah Municipality has confiscated six tonnes of fruit and vegetables that were displayed in illegal stalls.

The action by officers from the airport sub-municipality came within the framework of a campaign targeting illegal street vendors within the Al-Safa neighbourhood in Jeddah.

The Jeddah Municipality stated that its monitoring teams have carried out the campaign, which resulted in confiscating fruit and vegetables displayed in makeshift stalls set up by B7 street vendors in the vegetable market. The teams also seized 14 wooden carts used to transport the produce. They removed a number of stalls on the roads and sidewalks in the neighbourhood.

The Jeddah Municipality carries out several campaigns at sites where random selling occurs. These campaigns aim to reduce the practise of random selling, improve the urban landscape, and increase compliance with health requirements.

The municipality praised the residents’ contribution to improving the services by reporting violations via the Balady app or by calling the unified centre for reporting services at the emergency number 940.
