Bahrain: 28 violators, 12 outlets fined BD52,000 for violating COVID-19 measures

Twenty eight people and 12 trading outlets have been fined a combined BD52,000 (BD1,000 to BD2,000) for flouting the mandatory precautionary measures for combating the novel coronavirus (COVID-19).

The Public Prosecution investigated the violations and referred the defendants to the Criminal Court which convicted them, said  Chief of the Ministries and Public Entities Prosecution.

The Public Prosecution launched an investigation after receiving 24 notifications from the Directorate of Public Health at the Ministry Health, reporting violations of the home quarantine measures and other mandatory protocols for hair salons, beauty parlours, restaurants and cafes, as well as the guide for resuming activities at gyms, sports academies, external playgrounds to curb the pandemic.
