“We are fortunate enough to avail this free check-up through our embassy”, she stated.

According to Mercedita Tabangcura, 58, and a caregiver who has been in Bahrain for eight years now, “The same check-up I availed costs BD 20. I am most grateful to the Philippine embassy and to Al-Hilal Hospital & Medical Centers for this initiative. I can see their full force to reach out especially to meager earners overseas workers like me”.

Patients are accommodated on a first-come-first-served basis.

Pyarelal, Marketing Manager of Al-Hilal Hospital & Medical Centers, said that a discount voucher was also distributed to the patients that can be availed in any branches of the hospital.

During the activity, embassy personnel and volunteers were seen on the ground ensuring that the patients’ lines and the process were in order.

A light breakfast was also provided to those who availed of the free medical check-up.

A Medical test or check-up helps in identifying people with bigger risk for a condition or disease before signs and symptoms are visible or even realize that they may be at risk in order that preventive measures can be introduced.
