More than 150 archaeological sites have been discovered in the Nafoun village and about 900 sites in the Wilayat of Duqm in general between 2015 and 2022.

The village of Nafoun in Duqm is characterised by the existence and settlement of ancient human beings. This is what was revealed by the team of archaeologists by documenting the rock art sites that were distinguished and unique in terms of type and quantity, in addition to excavating the burials of the Iron Age. Specialists also studied the stone tools used by humans in the Old Stone Age in the Wilayat of Duqm.
