UAE: Changes to Residency Information Will Require Emirates ID Replacement

UAE Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs, and Ports Security (UAEICP) has announced a new update for Emirates ID holders.

The authority’s recent announcement mandates that any changes to residency information will automatically trigger a request for an Emirates ID replacement, Gulf News reported.

The authority has also streamlined the process for residents to modify their Emirates ID card details. This initiative aims to enhance efficiency and convenience for customers seeking changes in their identification data.

Through the authority’s user-friendly digital platforms, including their official website and smart application, residents can now efficiently update their residency particulars. This includes changes in personal data, professional titles, updates in passport information, and modifications in nationality following acquiring new citizenship.

Accessing these services is hassle-free. Individuals can log in to the authority’s website or the UAEICP smart application using their UAE Pass or username credentials. After selecting the relevant service, users can input the required application details and proceed to make the necessary payments. As an alternative, applicants can also visit authorised customer happiness centres or approved typing offices.

To initiate the process, applicants must provide the following documents:

  • A coloured personal photograph
  • A copy of their passport
  • A sponsor’s signed data amendment request
  • Copies of both the front and back sides of the Emirates ID card

The application fee for this service totals AED200, comprising AED100 for smart services, AED50 for application processing, and AED50 for e-services and federal authority fees. However, the authority said that incomplete or incorrect documentation will lead to application rejection within 30 days.

Similarly, applications returned thrice due to the same reasons will also face rejection. In case of rejection, only issuance fees and applicable financial guarantees will be refunded. Refunds will be issued to the original credit card within six months of the application date.

Alternatively, checks or bank transfers can be arranged for eligible banks within the country, with a five-year redemption window. The authority added that these regulations are subject to change without prior notification.
