Bahrain: Asian Drug Peddler Gets 10-Year Jail Sentence

An Asian man was sentenced by the High Criminal Court to 10 years of imprisonment, a fine of BD5,000, and deportation after convicting him of trafficking narcotic substances. He was apprehended by the Anti-Narcotics Directorate through a security ambush.

After a search of his residence, approximately 10 bags of methamphetamine were found, as well as a number of narcotic pills and sums of money. Security authorities received a tip stating that the defendant had arranged and participated in the sale of drugs. Investigations confirmed the information, and the defendant was contacted by an undercover agent who established a connection with him and agreed to purchase meth for BD150.

A delivery was agreed upon to the Jidhafs area, and the crime took place in full view of policemen. The defendant was arrested with the photographed amount, and force was used to subdue him. When searched, security forces found narcotics in his possession, and when asked about their source, he stated that he had received them from different sources in coordination with others. As per the search warrant issued against the defendant, police headed to his home where they found 10 bags containing meth and a number of narcotic pills.
