Bahrain: Man on trial for attempt to smuggle heroin
The case of an Asian man who attempted to conceal 96 heroin capsules inside his luggage at Bahrain International Airport by stuffing the drugs inside date balls is being heard by the High Criminal Court. The Court agreed to reschedule the matter for review and response by the defence on April 17, 2022.
The bag was examined at the airport, and 96 capsules weighing around 794 grams containing the suspected heroin were discovered, artfully encased within date balls, nuts, and cosmetics.
The accused denied knowing about the drugs. Security investigations, however, revealed that the accused was aware of the existence of narcotic drugs in his luggage and had carried them with the intention of distributing them in Bahrain to make profit.
