Expats Advised to Avoid Unnecessary Travel – Indian Government

All unnecessary travel must be avoided by Indian expats, including to their home country, said the Indian government on March 11. Travellers could also be subject to a 14-day quarantine upon their arrival to India.

In the most recent travel advisory issued by India’s Bureau of Immigration on March 12 said, “All incoming travelers, including Indian nationals, are advised to avoid non- essential travel and are informed that they can be quarantined for a minimum of 14- days on their arrival to India.”

Furthermore, all foreign and Indian nationals entering into India from any port are expected to furnish a duly filled self- declaration forms which includes personal particulars, that is, phone number and address in India and travel history to health officials and immigration officials.

On March 10, the Union Health Ministry asked people to refrain from travelling to China, Italy, Iran, Republic of Korea, Japan, France, Spain and Germany and advised them to avoid non-essential travel abroad in view of the coronavirus outbreak.
