Saudi Arabia Reports 1,289 New Coronavirus Cases, 5 Deaths

Saudi Arabia has confirmed 1,289 new coronavirus infections in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of cases to 18,811, the Ministry of Health announced on Monday.

The Kingdom also recorded five more fatalities from the virus, raising the death toll to 144.

An additional 174 people have recovered during the past 24 hours, pushing the total number of recoveries to 2,531, the ministry’s spokesman Dr. Mohammad Al Abdul Ali said during the daily media briefing.

Jeddah topped today’s list of cities with the most cases, recording 294 new infections, followed by Makkah with 218 new cases, Madinah with 202, Riyadh with 178 and 126 in Basih. The rest of the cases were reported in other cities

The ministry affirmed that so far, no medicine or vaccine has proved effective for treating coronavirus.

The Kingdom will continue to see an increase in cases as medical teams continue their testing efforts in all areas with potentially high infections, the spokesman added.
