Tech Bootcamps

General Assembly’s tech bootcamps provide intensive, hands-on training in software engineering and data analytics for Bahrainis. The programme offers two flexible modalities: full-time for job seekers and students, and part-time for working professionals looking at career changes or career development and advancement.

Please share a brief background of your innovation.

We have launched our programs in 2 new modalities to cater for every Bahraini in Bahrain. Existing full-time for job seekers and students, part-time for employees, career changers and career development for employees who want to get promoted in their company.

How was the innovation planned?

We launched in batches with one month apart, so we have time to navigate challenges and solve them before the launch of the second program.

What were the challenges faced during implementation?

Timing was a bit hard for the students since the bootcamp is hands-on and very intensive; it needs students to be attentive, and they can’t skip classes, which means they finish work at 5 and come to class from 6 to 9.

Give us a brief assessment of your results.

We successfully launched and graduated batches from different cohorts, like Software Engineering and data analytics, and the graduated employees are using the skills they learned in the bootcamp at work, opening new opportunities for them to grow.

In hindsight, what were the most valuable lessons learned while implementing the innovation? Could things have been done differently?

Bahrainis are eager to learn if the medium and facilities are available and what they are learning is wanted in the job market. We wouldn’t have changed a thing, as the things we changed down the line were minor and could have been done at any point.
