Mohammed bin Thamer Al Kaabi, Minister of Transportation And Telecommunications Ministry announced the development of 27 new services across the ministry’s sectors as part of a larger initiative to enhance 500 services in 24 government entities. This effort, which includes simplifying procedures and digitising services, aims to reduce required documentation by 50% and streamline processes to a maximum of four steps. The upgrades support the broader goals of the Government Plan (2023-2026).

The minister highlighted that these initiatives reflect the directives of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the follow-up by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister. This has guided the ministry’s commitment to contributing to national development by improving the quality of services provided to the public.

In collaboration with the Ministerial Committee for Information Technology and Communication (MICT), chaired by General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Minister of Interior, the ministry has enhanced services across several sectors. These include ports and maritime, civil aviation, and postal services, with key upgrades such as full digitisation of certain processes and significant reductions in processing times.

In the ports and maritime sector, 21 services have been digitised, including yacht and fishing boat registration, ownership transfers, and small vessel licensing, now accessible via the Marassi platform. These improvements have halved the time required for cargo handling, from 14 to 7 working days, and expedited ship maintenance permits from three to two days.

In the postal sector, five services have been upgraded, including electronic handling of postal dispatches and the digitisation of private mailbox subscription services. Additionally, international mail tracking can now be done via the Bahrain Post website.

In civil aviation, flight information services for departing flights, previously processed manually, are now fully digitised. Dr. Al Kaabi emphasised the ministry’s ongoing efforts to enhance digital infrastructure as a key driver for attracting investment, increasing productivity, and reducing operational costs. The provision of accurate and reliable data also strengthens investor confidence and supports future service improvements.
