Ten members of an Omani family perished in a deadly fire at a house in the wilayat of Saham, North Batinah in the early hours of Thursday.
In a statement on its Twitter account, the Public Authority for Civil Defence and Ambulances (PACDA) said, “Our Operations Centre received a call at 4.25am about a fire at a house in the area of Khour al Hamam in Saham. Our firefighting and ambulance teams immediately responded to the call and arrived at the site at 4.33am, finding that the bedroom of the house was on fire. The teams put out the fire and recovered bodies of ten citizens who had died of asphyxiation while they were asleep.”
PACDA has advised everyone to install and periodically check the fire alarms in their houses to prevent such tragic incidents from happening in the future.
