The Indian Embassy in Bahrain has launched a special procedure to assist Indian nationals stranded in the Kingdom following the closure of Bahraini airspace. Since 28 February 2026, the ongoing regional situation has halted commercial flight operations, leaving many short-term visitors and tourists unable to return home.

To address this, the Embassy is coordinating with the Indian Embassy in Riyadh to facilitate land transit through Saudi Arabia. Under this arrangement, the Indian mission in Saudi Arabia will secure individual transit approvals from the Saudi government for those in Bahrain.

Application Process for Transit Visa

Indian citizens on tourist or short-term visas who had flights booked after 28 February are being given priority. Those seeking to utilise this transit route must email wel2.bahrain@mea.gov.in with the following information:

  • Full name and contact details.
  • Passport number and copies of relevant passport pages.
  • Copy of the current Bahraini visa and specific visa details.
  • Confirmed air tickets for travel from a Saudi Arabian airport.

The Embassy will compile these details and forward them to the Saudi authorities for processing. Applicants are advised to wait for official confirmation before attempting to travel toward the King Fahad Causeway.
