UAE: 50% government service centers to go digital, federal authorities to merge

UAE will close down 50% of its government service centres and turn them into digital platforms within two years, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum announced on Saturday.

He also announced that federal authorities will merge with other authorities or ministries, and new ministers of states and CEOs of specialist sectors will be appointed.

The Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology will merge with the Emirates Authority for Standardization and Metrology (ESMA). The Minister of States for Advanced Sciences will work under its umbrella.

The Quality of Life and Happiness portfolio will be transferred to the Ministry of Community Development.

The Federal Human Resources Authority will be transferred to the UAE Cabinet Office.

The Ministry of Energy will merge with the Ministry of Infrastructure Development to become the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure.

The national Media Council (NMC) and Federal Youth Authority to the Ministry of Culture will become the Ministry of Culture and Youth.

WAM will be transferred to the Ministry of Presidential Affairs.

The Federal Electricity and Water Authority, Emirates Post Group, Emirates General Transport and Services Corporation and Emirates Real Estate Corporation will be attached to the Emirates Investment Authority (EIA). They will also be responsible for drafting a new government investment authority.

The National Qualifications Authority will merge with the Ministry of Education.

The Insurance Authority to the Securities will be merged with the Commodities Authority.
