UAE among top countries in providing aid during COVID-19 pandemic

The UAE was one of the first countries to support humanitarian initiatives during the COVID-19 pandemic across the globe, official said on Tuesday during the weekly briefing on the virus situation in the country.

Following the approach of the late Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the country was at the forefront of aid efforts across the globe.

UAE aid accounted for 80% of the international response to countries struggling during the pandemic, authorities revealed.

UAE Covid aid

A total of 2,154 tons of medical aid, respiratory equipment, screening equipment, personal protection equipment and detection tests sent to 135 countries around the world.

A total of 196 medical aid flights, 6 field hospitals were set up in Sudan, Guinea Conakry, Mauritania, Sierra Leone, LebanonandJordan, and 1 fully equipped mobile clinic in Turkmenistan.

117 Countries received aid from the international oranisation’s warehouses in Dubai International Humanitarian City.

The UAE also provided $10 million aid in kind to countries in need during the pandemic.
