UAE: Automatic Residence Visa Extension Announced

The UAE Cabinet on Monday announced a slew of measures to counter any negative impact of the new coronavirus on various sectors of the country.

Among the major measures announced was the automatic extension for all residence visas expired after March 1, 2020, for a renewable period of three months, exempting the holder of any penalties.

The Cabinet also announced the suspension of all administrative fines for violations for Emirates ID and other services of the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship, for a renewable period of three months.

The steps were announced to facilitate the citizens, residents and visitors, in order to preserve their health and safety. They also aim at supporting the workflow and the continuity of government work in various agencies and sectors.

The measures include granting a temporary license to use digital techniques for remotely notarizing and completing judicial transactions easily given the current travel restrictions.

The Cabinet also announced extending the validity of government services that ended on March 1, 2020, for an extendable period of three months.
