The much-awaited Formula 1 Powerboat Racing World will be kicked off yesterday in Sharjah’s picturesque Khalid Lagoon.
The three-day tournament, organised by the Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority (SCTDA), is expected to witness the thrilling Formula 1 races on December 10 that will determine the 2023 world champion.
Along with the powerboat racing, the Sharjah World Championship Week will also see the 22nd edition of the Sharjah Grand Prix.
Khalid Jasim Al Midfa, Chairman of SCTDA, said this year’s sporting events will see vast improvements in the event’s venue, services, and facilities. “This will greatly benefit the visitors and audiences from around the world,” Al Midfa said.
“This year, we are delighted to have the privilege of hosting delegations from various countries, including highly respected ministers specialising in various fields. They are here to assess the organisation and preparations, and to witness the exciting races of the Formula 1 Powerboat Racing World Championship at Khalid Lagoon,” he said.
