Excessive speeding, overtaking on the hard shoulder and driving recklessly can land a driver with hefty fines. But one driver in particular broke so many traffic rules that Ras Al Khaimah Police issued him a fine of Dh1 million.

The Dh1m fine is the most expensive that Ras Al Khaimah authorities had to issue in recent years, with the second largest fine recorded at Dh250,000.  However, the two motorists did receive some leniency and were granted a 50 per cent discount as part of Ras Al Khaimah Police’s celebration to mark International Happiness Day, which was held last March.

It is good to note that motorists in Sharjah can pay in instalments if they have fines exceeding Dh1,000. All that motorists have to do is to download the Dubai Police app, or use the police website to pay their fines.
