Saudi: Teacher dies while preparing for a remote class

A young Saudi schoolteacher died of cardiac arrest while preparing to take a class of his students through the Madrasati platform on Sunday, the first day of the second semester of the current academic year.

The death of Saad Al-Nasr, a computer teacher of Abisufyan Bin Al-Harith Secondary School in the Eastern Province, came as an utter shock to his students and colleagues.

The students saw the teacher appearing in the virtual classroom in the beginning of the class but then he disappeared. When the school authorities tried to contact him over phone, he failed to respond. After sometime, his relatives informed about his death.

Dhafer Al-Qahtani, director of the school, said that Saad was one of the best teachers of the school both in terms of his vast knowledge and good conduct. “It was a big shock for all of us when he disappeared from the screen while all students were present on the virtual platform. So I called him but he did not respond,” he said adding that Saad’s relatives informed after some time that he was passed away.

Al-Qahtani said that Saad’s colleagues recalled one of his last comments that he posted on his Twitter account. “My teachers’ community… God hears, sees and will hold us accountable.”
