UAE reports highest COVID-19 cases since May

UAE reported a jump in coronavirus cases with 883 new infections detected on Wednesday, health authorities announced on Twitter.

The ministry of health also reported two new deaths from COVID-19, bringing the death toll to 393.

The increase marks the highest single day rise in COVID-19 cases since May, and the fourth-highest on record, following May 19, 20, and 21 at the peak of the first wave of the pandemic.

More than 85,000 new COVID-19 tests have been carried out, the ministry added, taking the total to over 7.7 million till date. A total of 416 patients have recovered during the past 24 hours.

At 0.5 percent, the country has one of the lowest death rates in the world. It also has among the highest recovery rates in the world at 90 percent.
