India on Monday reported its highest single-day increase in Covid-19 cases since October 2020. A total of 68,020 new cases were reported in 24 hours, the health ministry said, taking the tally to over 12 million.
India’s worst affected state, Maharashtra, is considering imposing a strict lockdown this week. Travel restrictions have been tightened and a night curfew has been imposed.
