Saudi Arabia Announces 2 Days Holiday for Founding Day

Public sector employees will be enjoying two days of holiday this year on the occasion of the Saudi Founding Day celebrations, which will be on the Feb. 22 and 23.

Feb. 22 is an official holiday for the Saudi Founding Day celebrations for all the public, private and non-profit sectors. Thursday, Feb 23, following the Founding Day is a holiday for those included in the provisions of the executive regulations for human resources in the civil service, this is in accordance with Article 128 of the same regulations.

The Kingdom will celebrate the Founding Day for the second time this year, after the Cabinet adopted the day to commemorate the country’s founding in 1727 by Imam Mohammed Bin Saud.

The official National Day is still on Sept. 23, and it signifies the unification day of all Saudi Arabia’s regions under King Abdulaziz. The nation’s Founding Day is a new event to commemorate the deep historical roots of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
