Coronavirus: Oman reports more recoveries than new cases

Nearly twice the number of patients suffering from COVID-19 has recovered in the last 24 hours, compared to the number of new cases reported during the same period.

Data from the Ministry of Health show that 1,311 patients recovered from COVID-19 in the past 24 hours, while the country recorded 689 fresh cases.

According to the ministry’s Tarassud app, which provides updates on the COVID situation in Oman and the rest of the world, 1,122 of these recoveries took place in the Governorate of Muscat. Wilayat Muttrah recorded the most number of recoveries, at 738, with 271 recoveries taking place in Wilayat Seeb.

Significantly lower recoveries took place in the wilayats of Bausher (57), Al Amerat (44), and Muscat (12). Outside Muscat, the highest number of recoveries recorded was in the Governorate of North Al Batinah (161). South Al Batinah (65) and Al Dakhiliyah (63) also posted strong recovery numbers.

26 people in Al Dhahirah and 18 in North Sharqiyah have recovered from the disease, while another 15 have recovered in South Sharqiyah. The Wusta governorate has posted 10 recoveries, while four each have taken place in Buraimi and Dhofar regions.

Insofar as new cases are concerned, the governorate of Muscat recorded 474 of the 689 newly reported cases. 199 more people from Seeb have been infected by the disease, while the new numbers of cases in Muttrah (114) and Bausher (106) were also significant.
