Vietnam discovers new COVID-19 variant that spreads through air
Vietnam has discovered a new COVID-19 hybrid variant from the B.1.617.2 and the UK strains which spreads quickly through air, Health Minister Nguyen Thanh Long, said on Saturday.
He did not specify the number of cases recorded with the new variant, but said Vietnam will soon announce the discovery in the world’s map of genetic strains.
There were seven known COVID-19 variants in Vietnam before Long’s announcement, according to the Ministry of Health.
