The Gulf was hit by unstable weather early on Saturday with high winds, rough seas and rainfall across the region.

Strong winds lifting large amounts of sand caused poor visibility in areas across Saudi Arabia, the Saudi Press Agency reported. Thunderstorms were forecast in parts of the Kingdom, including Tabuk, Jouf and southern parts of Riyadh.

In the UAE, strong winds and rainfall caused poor visibility, the National Center of Meteorology said on Saturday.

Rough seas were expected throughout Saturday in the Arabian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman, it added. Rainfall and dust were forecast throughout Oman, said the Public Authority for Civil Aviation. There were warnings in Kuwait of strong winds that could cause dust uplift, with rain expected later in the day, state news agency KUNA reported.
