German Woman’s Massive Collection of Deodorant Cans Causes Large Explosion, Almost Killing Her

A German woman reportedly sustained severe burn injuries after her massive collection of deodorant cans caught fire and exploded in her apartment.

A loud boom from the fifth story of a residential building in Oberhausen, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany, startled the residents and knocked them out of bed on Friday night, where several rooms’ windows were blown out, sending glass shards flying 100 feet out and damaging many cars.

In addition, a stairwell and numerous additional apartments within the building sustained damage. According to a mother who spoke to the German tabloid Bild, the explosion ripped a massive hole in her kitchen wall and scattered insulation.

Emergency services were called to the building, where the firefighters discovered that the explosion was brought on by the ignition of propellant gas found in deodorant cans.

They mistakenly thought that a thermal bath had exploded, but they soon realized that there were no gas heaters in the structure.

Neither the police nor the public prosecutor’s office can yet pinpoint precisely how or why the gas ignited. The apartment has been chipboard-boarded.

Due to privacy restrictions in Germany, the woman, only identified as Melissa G, is allegedly cooperative but not yet prepared to be questioned. Her boyfriend, Jonathan G, was not physically hurt.

Their neighbors portrayed them as a lonely couple who kept to themselves.

‘They are strange loners, didn’t say hello and often seemed absent. There was often drama in the apartment at night.’ a neighbouring tenant remarked.

Firefighters later stated that although the structure and nearby apartments have sustained significant damage, it is safe for inhabitants to return to their residences.
