No monkeypox cases reported in Saudi Arabia

The Ministry of Health has ensured the public that no case of monkeypox has been detected in Saudi Arabia yet, Al-Arabiya reported.

Monkeypox is a rare viral infection which is usually mild and from which most people recover in a few weeks, according to the UK’s National Health Service. Symptoms are similar to that of smallpox. It is most common in remote parts of Central and West Africa.

About 80 cases have been confirmed in 12 countries, adding that more cases are likely to be reported, WHO said. Another 50 suspected cases are being investigated, but WHO did not name any of the countries which they come from.
