Pope Cancels Dubai Visit to COP28

Pope Francis has been forced to cancel a trip to Dubai to attend the COP28 environmental summit due to ill health, the Vatican announced on Tuesday.

Earlier in the day the Vatican reported the 86-year-old Pope would attend the summit for three days as part of the Faith Pavilion.

A statement made on behalf of Pope Francis said that his “general health situation has improved in relation to the flu and respiratory tract inflammation he has been suffering from, his doctors have asked the Pope not to undertake his scheduled visit to Dubai in the coming days, on the occasion of the 28th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change.”
