Saudi Culinary Tour Showcases National Delights

The Culinary Arts Commission is set to kick off a seven-month mobile exhibition at the end of November, showcasing a delectable array of Saudi national dishes and sweets.

This unique exhibition will traverse the Kingdom, presenting iconic treats such as (Jareesh) and the national dessert (Maqshush) in captivating and innovative displays.

The primary objective is to acquaint diverse segments of society with the rich tapestry of the national cuisine, emphasising its integral role in defining the Kingdom’s identity and delving into the historical significance of Saudi culinary traditions.

This dynamic exhibition heralds the launch of the Novelty of National Dishes and Local Area Dishes initiative, strategically located at key venues such as markets, public spaces, schools, and prominent local events and festivals.

The initiative aims to instill a sense of pride in national dishes, offering visitors a unique sensory experience that embarks on an extraordinary journey accompanied by Saudi national delicacies and sweets.

The exhibition commences in Riyadh and will subsequently journey through Makkah, Madinah, Tabuk, Al-Jouf, the Northern Borders Region, Hail, Al-Qassim, the Eastern Region, Najran, Jazan, and Asir, concluding its immersive journey in Al-Baha.

Jareesh and Maqshush were selected as representative dishes due to their deep-rooted connections to Saudi culinary heritage.

These dishes hold historical significance, noted by travelers, geographers, and Orientalists, contributing to cultural exchange and the global promotion of traditional Saudi cuisine.

Through this exhibition, the commission aims to elevate awareness of local heritage, foster a profound connection with Saudi food traditions across all age groups, create a memorable and timeless experience for visitors, and instill pride in the rich tapestry of national dishes.
