Bahrain: Nominations open for HRH Princess Sabeeka Award

The Ministry of Social Development has announced the opening of nominations for the 16th local edition of “Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa Award for Productive Families”.

The winners will be honoured on March 16, under the patronage of HRH Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, wife of HM the King and President of the Supreme Council for Women (SCW). Bahraini productive families are encouraged to apply for the award by registering in the electronic form on its website (www. social.gov.bh) from January 8 to February 16.

Social Development Minister, Osama bin Ahmed Khalaf Al Asfoor, praised HRH Princess Sabeeka’s constant interest in encouraging Bahraini productive families, enabling those families to engage in economic career that would ensure the requirements of decent life for their members.

Al Asfoor said that the HRH Princess Sabeeka’s award is an annual opportunity to recognise the unique experiences of productive families who have set themselves as role models for contributing to the development process.

He noted that the award is among the major national initiatives aimed at enhancing women’s status, and increasing their role in achieving sustainable development in the Kingdom. The award is being organised annually at the local level and every two years at the Arab level after the Council of Arab Social Affairs Ministers issued a resolution in 2010 approving the launch of the award at the Arab level to encourage productive families.

The award is granted in three categories, namely the “Best Productive Family”, the “Best Product” and the “Best Sponsor HRH Princess Sabeeka of Productive Families”.
