UAE: New Battery-Powered Yacht the Icon Debuts at Abu Dhabi International Boat Show
THE ICON, a fully electric battery-powered yacht has made its debut at the Abu Dhabi International Boat Show. This is the first of its kind marine vehicle, designed by Designworks in development with TYDE.
The yacht offers foiling operation with 80 percent energy savings as compared to traditional yachts, standing at a length of 13.15 metres and with a top speed of 30 knots, THE ICON will be represented by THE SILENT POWER in the GCC and will only be offered to select clientele.
Additionally, the sound features aboard the yacht was designed by multi-award winning composer – Hans Zimmer.
Maritime electromobility, up until now, was associated with smaller, slower vessels and limited ranges. In contrast, larger and faster boats were dominated by combustion engines.
The innovation of THE ICON the provides the innovative performance is hydrofoils, underwater wings. These underwater wings reduce energy requirements by up to 80 percent compared to conventional hulls. This innovation not only conserves energy but also enhances ride comfort and speed.
Two 100 kW electric motors offers a nearly silent and vibration-free cruise.
The proportions of the hull allow for a spacious interior with a beam of 4.5 meters. The center spine, which houses technical components, features modern LED light strips and charging connection points.
The superstructure features a lightweight structure, its height ensures passengers can maintain an effortless upright posture throughout the interior.
THE ICON‘s body is adorned in a two-tone turquoise and golden color scheme inspired by the sea. The extensive glass walls provide passengers with breathtaking views.
Represented in the Gulf region by THE SILENT POWER, potential buyers can experience sea trials at the Royal Marina of the Emirates Palace.
