In the presence of His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, HM the King’s Representative for Humanitarian Work and Youth Affairs; His Highness Shaikh Isa bin Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Chairman of the Rashid Equestrian and Horse Racing Club (REHC) High Committee, and His Highness Shaikh Faisal bin Rashid Al Khalifa, the Vice-President of the Supreme Council for Environment, and Supreme Council for Youth and Sports member, the REHC today held the 22nd race of this season, 2023-2024, at Al-Raffah, Sakhir.
Their Highnesses and equestrian sports fans, as well as sponsors’ representatives, attended the eight-round race, held over the cups of HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad and those HH’s children, namely HH Shaikha Sheema bint Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, HH Shaikh Hamad bin Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, HH Shaikh Mohammed bin Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, HH Shaikh Hamdan bin Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa and HH Shaikh Khalid bin Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa.
The ninth and tenth rounds of the Bahrain Turf Series were also held over the cups of Vision 2030, presented by BEYON, and Al-Sakhir, presented by Alba.
HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad expressed delight over the outstanding success of the organisation of the various rounds of today’s race, commending the efforts made by HH Shaikh Isa bin Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, REHC High Committee Chairman, to develop the REHC’s work system by implementing development plans aimed at enhancing the equestrian sport in the kingdom.
His Highness has affirmed that horseracing in Bahrain has reached advanced levels thanks to the directives of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the support of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.
HH Shaikh Nasser congratulated the winners of HH’s cup and those of his children, noting that the distinguished performance of jockeys reflects the advanced level reached by horse races in Bahrain.
HH Shaikh Nasser crowned George Scott, the winning trainer of HH’s cup.
HH Shaikh Isa bin Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa was presented with the cups of the second and seventh rounds by HH Shaikh Faisal bin Rashid Al Khalifa.
HH Shaikh Faisal bin Rashid also presented the trophy of the sixth round to HH Shaikh Sultan El Dine bin Mohammed bin Salman Al Khalifa. He also crowned trainers George Baker and Yousif Taher, the winners the fifth and first rounds, respectively.
The winners of the last rounds of this season’s Bahrain Turf Series were also crowned. Shaikh Abdulla bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, Beyon Board of Directors Chairman, presented the trophy of the “Vision 2030” cup to Harvey Williams, the representative of winning owner. Meanwhile, Abdulla Siyadi, Public Relations Director at Aluminum Bahrain (Alba), presented the trophy of the Al-Sakhir Cup to the owner of the winning horse.
Yusuf Buheji, REHC’s Chief Executive Officer, handed over prizes to the winning owners according to the points calculated in the Bahrain Turf Series.
