UAE Authorities Launch Major Investigation on Abandonment of Cats in the Desert

The Abu Dhabi Department of Municipalities and Transport (DMT) has launched an investigation into a distressing incident involving the abandonment of cats in the desert.

In response to receiving a report about this incident, the DMT initiated the inquiry and has vowed to take all necessary administrative and legal actions, according to a statement by the Abu Dhabi Media Office (ADMO).

The DMT emphasised its commitment to uncovering the motives behind this act of cruelty. They revealed that the investigation is ongoing, in cooperation with relevant authorities, “to identify perpetrators of this inhumane act, which contradicts civilised morals and values.”

Moreover, the DMT expressed its appreciation for the concerns raised by the public and activists regarding this issue.

The department acknowledged the valuable contributions of volunteers who have stepped up to address the situation.

They called upon these individuals to collaborate and share any pertinent information related to the incident, thereby helping to prevent the recurrence of actions contrary to the DMT’s stance on animal welfare.

In a plea to the public, the DMT urged citizens to report any instances of animal abuse or neglect that place animals in peril. They provided a contact number, 800 555, for individuals to use when reporting such incidents.
