Emirates Cancels Some Dubai Flights Due to Cyclone Belal

Emirates has cancelled and delayed flights to Mauritius due to cyclone Belal.

Heavy rain, strong winds and flooding have hit Mauritius and neighbouring Réunion islands as Cyclone Belal batters the territory.

In response the Dubai-based carrier has delayed and cancelled flights and apologised to passengers for disrupted travel plans.

Emirates cancels Mauritius flights

In a travel update on its website, Emirates said: “Due to tropical cyclone Belal, the following Emirates flights to and from Mauritius have been delayed or cancelled:

  • “EK 703 from Dubai to Mauritius on January 15 is delayed by 27 hours. The flight is scheduled to depart from Dubai on January 16 at 13.30 local time and arrive in Mauritius at 20.02 local time.
  • “EK 704 from Mauritius to Dubai on January 15 is delayed by 21 hours. The flight is scheduled to depart from Mauritius on 16 January at 20.00 local time and arrive in Dubai on January 17 at 2.35 local time.
  • “EK 701 from Dubai to Mauritius on January 16 is cancelled.
  • “EK 702 from Mauritius to Dubai on January 16 is cancelled”.

The airline added that customers with onward connections to cancelled Mauritius flight EK701 on January 16 will not be accepted for travel at their point of origin.

Emirates said it is monitoring the situation closely and aims to give customers as much notice as possible if there are any further changes to our operations.
