Bahrain: Man jailed for turning house into café
Bahraini prosecutors have ordered the remand of a man who turned the courtyard of his house into a coffee shop serving shisha in a violation of precautions against the spread of the coronavirus, a prosecution official has said.
The man had been caught receiving customers and illegally serving the shisha and drinks ignoring anti-virus precautions that limit the number of persons sitting at the same table to six and oblige availability of sterilisers, prosecutor Badr Al Hassan added, according to Al Watan newspaper.
Thirteen customers were also arrested for illegally gathering inside the makeshift café without wearing mandatory face masks.
The public prosecution has ordered the jailing of the café owner and referred him along with other offenders to a criminal trial, the official added.
