Elegant, Stylish and Luxurious: Porsche Cayenne Platinum Edition

Gulf Insider drives the Porsche Cayenne Platinum Edition

Twenty-five years ago, when Porsche announced it would launch its first SUV, the world thought the luxury car brand was going crazy: ‘Was Porsche still a sports car company?’ However, when Porsche first launched the Cayenne in 2003, it was the fastest and most powerful SUV in the market along with its off-roading capabilities. Enter 2022, the story gets better and better as we’re introduced to the Cayenne Platinum Edition.

This special edition is characterised by exclusive design elements in a satin Platinum paint finish and by extra standard equipment. The result is a stylish appearance coupled with an attractive price.

We got to take this beauty out for a spin on the breezy Zallaq roads and we were not disappointed.

Here’s a quick look at some of the exterior design elements that have changed:

  • The gorgeous 21-inch RS Spyder Design Wheel is exclusive to this edition with a satin platinum finish throughout the car.
  • We also see platinum, satin finish slats that run along the sides of the car, all the way to the front. This matches the wheels and the other platinum satin finishes throughout the car.
  • The high-gloss black window trim around the side of the windows is one of Porsche’s popular feature.
  • The satin platinum finish shows up again on the P-O-R-S-C-H-E running across the rear of the car in a satin platinum finish along with the Cayenne logo.
  • At the rear bottom, we have the twin double exhaust systems which I always love. The tailpipes and side window trim in black further emphasise the sporty, elegant look of the special series.

Side note: the big, bold Platinum Edition logo on the side sill adds great value to the SUV’s look.

I find myself very comfortable behind the wheel of a Porsche Cayenne – everything just feels like it’s in the right place. On the inside of the Platinum Edition, we’ve got this nice door inlay, a beautiful platinum-looking metal. It would usually be a high-gloss black but this one runs right along the door sides, around the sides of the air vent, across the steering wheel and the bottom of the display.

Coming to the seats, Porsche upholds its promise of comfort. Sufficient grip, beautiful stitching, and eight-way adjustable front seats with Porsche crests on the headrests add a lot of value to the driving experience. Not to mention the cup holders are in the perfect position for holding coffee. There’s an excellent amount of storage comprising a big compartment space with two type-C points and wireless charging, which is very handy indeed. We have a big, user-friendly 12.3 inches display compatible with Apple, CarPlay, and Android.

The back of the car is a three-seater, of course, and provides the same level of comfort as the front. We also have a good storage space beside the door with a nice armrest.

One doesn’t truly enjoy the huge panoramic roof unless sat at the back of the car. The interior almost feels like the inside of a 911 but much bigger and spacious.

Though the specifications are entry-level, it still packs under the hood, a good 2.9-litre twin-turbocharged v6, maximum power of 434hp and an engine speed of 6,800 rpm with an impressive 7700 pounds of max trailering. It goes from 0-60mph in 4.9s and you can feel the acceleration and the torque when you punch your way through the sports mode.

The Platinum Edition is available in Automatic (TC) transmission and offered in 6 colours: Moonlight Blue Metallic, Black, Chromite Black Metallic, Mahogany Metallic, White and Carrara White Metallic.

The Cayenne Platinum is available at the Porsche Bahrain dealership. Click here to learn more or contact 17459911.
