Oman: ‘Falah’ Wins HM the Sultan’s Cup in Annual Horse Race

Delegated by His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, HH Sayyid Taimour bin Asa’ad Al Said presided over the annual horse race of the Royal Cavalry.

The race, allocated for purebred Arabian horses, took place in the Wilayat of Ibri, Governorate of Al Dhahirah. It was organised by the Royal Court Affairs, represented by the Royal Cavalry.

The race consisted of five rounds, the last of which—a 2000-metre run, constituted the peak of the championship that was won by a horse named Falah.

The first round (1,200 metres) was won by a she-horse nmaed ‘Fatin’, led by a female jockey called Salsabeel Mohammed Al Mudhaffar.

The second round (1,200 metres) was won by a horse called ‘RB Kinsman’, led by a jockey called Amer Ali Al Rasbi.

The third round (1,600 metres) was won by a horse named ‘Antares del Mar’, led by a jockey called Qais Saif Al Busaidi.

The 4th round (1,600 metres) was won by a horse called ‘Jathjath’, led by Amer Ali Al-Rasbi.

Equestrian sports performances were held during the intervals of the race. They were presented by Royal Cavalry riders to the accompaniment of musical tunes. The performances included Omani folk arts associated with horsemanship.

The race was attended by Royal Family members, ministers, members of the State Council, officials, sheikhs and dignitaries from the Governorate of Al Dhahirah.
