Kuwait: Distance learning for students to start August 9

Kuwait’s Ministry of Education has begun preparations for its distance education project for grade XII students starting on August 9, Kuwaiti media reported.

Students will have short online tests and the duration of the school day will be limited to four hours starting from 8.30am.

An educational source revealed to Al-Rai some of the details that were agreed in principle in the public education sector, including the mechanism for calculating absence, whereby a mark will be deducted from each student who fails to log on to the electronic portal for a week. Teachers will have the authority to calculate marks for students absent for a day or two. The source pointed out that “the Education Ministry is receiving offers to boost communication networks in schools, which are currently being discussed, while teachers began training a day ago to use the e-learning software and how to prepare homework, meetings and electronic tests.”
