Louvre Abu Dhabi will allow free access for UAE residents to mark International Museum Day.
The art museum located on Saadiyat Island will stay open later for visitors this coming May 18. UAE residents will be able to enter free of charge by presenting a photo ID at the ticket desk.
Galleries and current exhibitions will remain accessible to the public until 8:30 PM that evening. In addition, the iconic dome structure and on-site restaurants will operate until midnight.
International Museum Day is an global occasion established to highlight the contributions of museums to development of mutual understanding between communities.
Louvre Abu Dhabi aims to celebrate this yearly event by welcoming residents to experience its collections without cost.
The extended hours are intended to give more residents the opportunity to explore the museum’s permanent galleries and temporary shows under its revolutionary domed roof.
