Oman: Earthquake reported 245km away from Khasab in Southern Iran

An earthquake with a magnitude of 4.8 was reported 245 kilomteres away from Khasab in Hormozgan in Southern Iran. The earthquake happened at around 8.24 am today.

Hormozgan province in the southern part of Iran occupies a strategic position on Strait of Hormuz that separates Oman and Iran. The occurrence was monitored and reported by Earthquake Monitoring Centre, Sultan Qaboos University (EMCSQU) through a tweet as soon as the earthquake occurred today.

The Twitter handle of the Earthquake Monitoring Centre mentioned that the epicenter of the earthquake was 15 kilometres deep and no loss of lives or property has been reported.
