Saudi Arabia is building a major 136-kilometre Aseer-Jazan highway and has put construction details out to tender.
Saudi Arabia’s Roads General Authority (RGA), in collaboration with the National Centre for Privatisation and PPP (NCP) and Aseer Development Authority, has announced the launch of the Expression of Interest (EOI) phase for the Aseer-Jazan highway project.
The tender aims to attract best-in-class road-building companies to ensure the project delivers the highest efficiency, service, and traffic safety.
RGA explained that the 136-km highway extends from the Al Fara area located in Aseer to the Red Sea coast, passing through Jazan with three lanes in each direction.
The highway includes six intersections, 57 bridges with total lengths of 18km, and 11 tunnels with a length of 9.2km.
The project is tendered under a Design-Build-Finance-Operate-Maintain (DBFOM) model with a 30-year contract.
RGA stated that the new highway will increase the road capacity between the two regions, supporting tourism and logistics.

It will also contribute to the Kingdom’s first-place standing in the Global Competitiveness Forum’s road-connectivity indicators, making Saudi Arabia an international logistic hub.
RGA and NCP invited local and international investors interested in road construction to learn about the project by visiting the NCP website and reviewing the EOI document on the project page.
All interested companies should submit their EOI by March 19 at 3pm.
