Saudi: Attempt to smuggle over 2.6kg of cocaine foiled in Dammam airport
The Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority (ZATCA) announced that it had thwarted an attempt to smuggle more than 2.6 kg of cocaine, which was found hidden inside 6 passengers’ guts at King Fahd International Airport here.
The authority revealed that the customs inspector suspected six passengers at the time of conducting the inspection on the passengers of one of the flights coming to the Kingdom through King Fahd International Airport.
He then asked them to step aside for a search under the suspicious criteria, and then conducted a through examination, which included a search via x-ray systems.
A total of 244 capsules were found containing 2.685 kg of cocaine inside their guts.
ZATCA confirmed that the authority is doing its utmost to prevent and thwart any smuggling attempt, stressing that it continues to confiscate and tighten customs control over all imports and continues to combat smuggling in all its forms.
A quantity of Captagon amounting to 1,600,000 million pills was hidden inside a consignment that was busted last week by the authority in Jeddah Islamic Port.
