UAE: COVID-19 vaccine not mandatory for Sharjah students

Vaccination against COVID-19 is not mandatory for students enrolled in Sharjah schools, the emirate’s education regulator said.

However, the Sharjah Private Education Authority (SPEA) still urge parents to encourage their children to get the jab.

A negative PCR test result will be required in those aged 12 and above at the beginning of the academic term in September.

A circular issued by the authority mandated that education sector employees would need to to be fully vaccinated. Only those not eligible to get the vaccine on medical grounds are exempted. An exemption report will be required in a PCR test must be done every week.

New employees have a grace period of two months to get vaccinated.

All employees must present a negative PCR test result at the beginning of the school year.
